Laundry Closet Makeover

Happy Thursday y'all! Thanks for all the bloggy love yesterday, it was so fun to debut it all!

The big projects on the house are pretty much done, just a few little things here and there but it's starting to really feel like home. Coming from Cali we had a huge laundry room with a folding counter, lots of cabinets, a window to let some natural light in and I loved it! This house was a totally different ballgame, just a closet and I couldn't believe how frustrated it left me!

Here are the before pics again:

All the wires in the left hand corner are for the wireless internet, cable etc... Every thing was jumbled, messy and kinda just thrown in there.

So my sweet husband got to work :)

Will was big enough to help, but Jack is our wild man. He was allowed to stay in the garage if he sat in the laundry basket. Obviously he wasn't too thrilled with me. Sorry baby!

And here is the finished closet!

Im so so sooooo happy with it! Here is what we did:
*Moved the light to the ceiling and added a remote switch to the wall outside the closet.
*Painted the same color that is in the hallway in the closet.
*Put all the storage in cute cases from The Container Store.
*All new Elfa shelving was installed from The Container Store and Bill's parents. (thank you!)
*All electronic "stuff" was placed into a wicker basket so that I don't have to look at it ;)
*I created a little magnetic chalkboard and a felt magnet to hang on the wall.
*The washer and dryer were cleaned and spruced up with some vinyl decals found at Target.
*AND.... the risers were built by Bill! My favorite part! It created storage for laundry, something that use to pile up on the top of the dryer.

So there you have it! Bill was quick to remind me that the risers are really meant for front loaders. But I told him "I know babe, but if you build it they will come". Name that movie! ;) haha! I really do find myself hilarious. He didn't laugh ;)

Hope your day is is going splendidly. Once the transition pieces are put in I'll be able to show you the new floors! In the meantime don't forget to sign up for the giveaway if you haven't already!

  5. I LOVE IT! That is the same as my pathetic laundry closet! I love the platform! I need that, the pedal stools for the front loaders are expensive! Well done and I'm slightly jealous!
