The 15 Minute 15 Dollar~NoSew Burlap Bedskirt

We have been working on some big changes in the house
all the while keeping a very tight budget.
I can't show you the BIG reveal yet,
but I can show you this quick, cheap and gorgeous bedskirt
that I whipped out last week.

Burlap by the yard is cheap cheap cheap.
At JoAnn Fabrics it runs about 3.99 a yard.
If you hold out for one of their 50% off coupons like I did,
this project will cost you a little more than $15 for a queen size bedskirt.
Woot Woot!

What you need:
8 yards (or more) of burlap
A roll of Duct Tape
Scissors

1. Put a fitted sheet on your box spring
2. Make sure the edge of your burlap is already sealed with a running stitch.
3. Your yardage will be folded in half, use that fold line as a guide and cut down it
so that you have two long 8 yard strips.  Set one strip aside for use in future projects.
4. Using duct tape, tape the end pieces of the second strip to either side of the head of the bed,
this helps you to keep the ruffle amount even on all sides.
5. At the foot of the bed find the middle of the fabric and begin pleating the burlap around all the sides.

If you pleat too much in one area it isn't a problem. Simply peel the tape and re-pleat.
I've gotten so many compliments on it
and no one has thought for a second that it was done with duct tape!
I'm looking forward to showing y'all the bigger changes soon!
We are talking total room flips, a Mr. Doozie project and some gorgeous gray paint!
Stay tuned!

  5. NOw that you have had it a while. Does it seem to hold up when making bed or just everyday sleeping? Does the duct tape ever come un-stuck?

  10. Easily add a wrap around bed skirt to your bed no need to lift the heavy mattress simply wrap it around your bed and it’s done. For most people, altering a bed skirt is tough, but this elastic wrap-around bed skirt makes tough work become so easy.
