As my mother-in-law would say, this sauce is magic. What I can tell you is that it is the ultimate comfort food. Your house will smell like home, your family will praise you like an Italian grandmother matriarch, and all will be right with the world....that is until it's time to do the dishes ;)
And if my telling you that this sauce is amazing isn't good enough, take a look at that recipe! You know it's a keeper when it looks as loved as this one does.
Memere's Spaghetti Sauce
Brown In Pan:
Oil
2-3 Cloves of garlic~chopped
1 Medium onion~chopped
Add 1-1 1/2 lbs of ground Italian Sausage (brown with a dash of salt and pepper)
After Browning Meat:
Add 3 large cans (29oz) Tomato Sauce
1-12oz can Tomato Paste
1 cup Red Wine
Add The Following To Taste:
Fresh Oregano
Fresh Basil
Fresh Thyme
Worcestershire Sauce
Grated Lemon Rind
Lots of Fresh Parsley
6-7 Fresh Mushrooms (cut into pieces)
*With the fresh herbs I like to place them all in my food processor and finely chop them. If you're buying them from the store, use an entire package of each.
To The Sauce:
Add 2 cans of Whole Tomatoes
*I like to cut each tomato into quarters.
Let the sauce simmer on the stove for at least an hour. Serve over thick spaghetti noodles. Enjoy!
I have a home full of males that would love this. I am now adding items to my market list so I can prepare it this weekend. Thanks ko.
